(Patria) - EUFOR Commander Major General László Sticz held a press conference with the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AF BiH) Lieutenant General Gojko Knežević with the aim of informing the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina about the annual EUFOR exercise “Quick Response”.
The annual EUFOR exercise will involve EUFOR forces from 23 countries already deployed in BiH, which will be temporarily reinforced by reserve forces from Austria, Hungary, Romania, and international peacekeeping forces from Kosovo (KFOR – Kosovo Forces). The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate EUFOR’s readiness and confirm its continued support to its Bosnian and Herzegovinian partners in maintaining a safe and stable environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During this extensive training, EUFOR will have the support of the AF BiH for the execution of its activities, which will provide training locations.
In the period from August 24 to September 16, residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina can expect increased movement of soldiers, patrols and other activities, as well as the transport of reserve forces’ equipment and helicopter flights throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, mainly in the areas of Čapljina, Glamoč, Livno, Orašje, Pazarić, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Ustikolina, as well as at the border crossings Brod, Klobuk, Metaljka and Svilaj. Some of these activities may be larger in scale or take place during the night.
EUFOR is taking all measures to ensure that the exercise has as little impact on the public as possible. Local authorities and the public will be informed in a timely manner about any EUFOR movement in their vicinity through our liaison and observation teams and press releases.
EUFOR is a strong, capable, and reliable partner and remains committed to supporting the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in maintaining a safe and stable environment.
