SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Vesko Drljača, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, stated that pension payments, as well as benefits for social categories, will be timely regardless of the economic consequences of this crisis.
There are 422,800 pensioners in FBiH, and 185,000,000 KM are needed for pensions.
Speaking about layoffs, Drljača emphasized that they are aware that a significant number of workers will lose their jobs.
“We will have to address this as a priority. We can be sure that this Government is making maximum efforts to secure funds to mitigate the consequences of the pandemic and save jobs. In FBiH, from March 16th to April 13th, there were 26,434 terminations and 6,573 new hires. The number of employed people has decreased by 19,861 workers,” said Drljača.
When asked if the Federal Government can help the Sarajevo Canton Employment Service if it runs out of funds for benefit payments due to the increased inflow of unemployed people, the minister explained that the Federal Employment Bureau has significant funds, but if they are not sufficient, the Government will provide additional funds.
It is not yet regulated that one parent, if they have a child or children under 10 years of age, is allowed to be absent from work.
Regarding amendments to the Government's proposed law on mitigating the economic consequences, the so-called “corona law”, as well as amendments submitted by the informal group Voice of Small Businesses, Drljača stated that there will be a large number of amendments.
“Some will be adopted, some will not, I believe there will be understanding for all workers,” emphasized the Minister of Labour and Social Policy.
