New Rules for Goods Entering the EU from April 1st

(Patria) - The Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH informs all economic entities that new rules for goods entering the EU will come into effect on April 1st.

The Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH has been informed by the European Commission about changes in the procedures for goods entering the EU.

Before reaching customs, as stated, all goods transported by sea, inland waterways, and rail into or through the EU, including postal and express shipments, are subject to new requirements.

The statement adds that economic entities affected by this will have to submit safety and security data via the Entry Summary Declaration, by accessing the EU's second-generation Import Control System (ICS2).

Economic entities to whom this change applies can access the ICS2 system through their own internal IT development system or through an IT service provider for submitting ENS data.

Companies not ready to implement the new rules by April 1st should contact the National Service Center of the EU member state where they are registered and have obtained their EORI number by March 1st at the latest, to request an extended deadline for implementation/activation date, which can only be granted based on a submitted request, the statement adds.

Detailed information on the application of the ICS2 system and the submission of the Entry Summary Declaration is available on the official website of the European Commission at the link: https://taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu/customs-4/customs-security/ics2_en.
