Bosnia and Herzegovina Expected to Submit Annual National Plan Soon

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić met with Brigadier General Marti J. Bissell, Commander of the NATO Headquarters Sarajevo. During the conversation, BiH Presidency Member Komšić emphasized that BiH, through its laws, strategies, and other adopted documents, has clearly defined its relationship with NATO, and that in this regard, submitting the First Annual National Plan (ANP) represents a technical issue.

This issue is now being politicized under the pressure of certain foreign influences, all with the aim of preventing further Euro-Atlantic integration of our country. He also expressed the opinion that full membership of BiH in the NATO alliance is a matter of great importance for our country, not only in terms of the security that membership represents, but also in the processes of reforming the security and defense sector, the rule of law, and economic strengthening through foreign investment.

General Bissell, in her address, emphasized the continued commitment of the NATO alliance in working with BiH institutions, and expressed hope that the first ANP will be submitted soon in order to improve mutual
cooperation. The interlocutors shared concerns about the transnational challenges facing Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as internal problems, such as the departure of the population, especially young people. General Bissell thanked for the participation of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in peacekeeping support missions, in which they make a significant and notable contribution.
