Expectations for the NSRS session low: Višković's resignation, Dodik's verdict and announcement of a referendum

(Patria) - A special session of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska will be held in Banja Luka, where deputies will discuss the resignation of Prime Minister Radovan Višković, the verdict against Milorad Dodik, as well as the decision of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina by which his mandate as President of the RS is terminated.

The agenda will also include amendments to the law on referendums, with a proposal that it be held in October. SNSD leader Milorad Dodik confirmed that the referendum could be scheduled for October 18 or 25, and also revealed the tentative question:

"Do the people accept that Christian Schmidt is destroying the constitutional order of the Republika Srpska and that the unconstitutional court is destroying the Constitution and dismissing officials elected by the people?"

Dodik emphasized that he does not want conflicts, but exclusively political struggle, with the message that "the will of the people must be respected."

The opposition, however, warns that Dodik is leading the RS into dangerous political adventurism. Nebojša Vukanović (List for Justice and Order) assessed that "Dodik is dragging his closest associates into problems," while Draško Stanivuković (PDP) warned that the referendum leads to isolation "which the RS cannot withstand either as a people or as institutions."

Jelena Trivić (National Front) reminded that she sees a solution in early elections: "A president who has legitimacy among the people should be elected, and then the executive authority should be formed."

Although the opposition criticizes the SNSD and Dodik's moves, there is still no agreement within their ranks on how to resolve this vacuum. Therefore, it is estimated that the NSRS session will not bring concrete answers either.
