Investigation against Izetbegović, Suljagić and Bajrović suspended

(Patria) - The BiH Prosecutor's Office has issued an order to suspend the investigation against Bakir Izetbegović, Reuf Bajrović and Emir Suljagić, who were previously reported for inciting national, racial and religious hatred. They were reported by Slaven Raguž on August 1, 2022.

The explanation from the BiH Prosecutor's Office states that the controversial statements by Bajrović, Izetbegović and Suljagić, when viewed from the perspective of the existence of essential elements that constitute this criminal offense, indicate the personal opinion of the suspects, and therefore their statements do not reach the necessary and sufficient level that could incite violence or hatred directed against a group of persons or a member of a group based on race, color, religion, origin, or national or ethnic affiliation, in this specific case in relation to members of the Croatian people.

We remind you that one report states that on April 16, 2022, during an iftar and gathering organized by the SDA Municipal Board in Hadžići, Bakir Izetbegović stated that the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina "was a heroic army that did not commit crimes", and that "such a people who suffered terrible crimes and did not retaliate, history has not remembered".

The second report, which, in addition to Izetbegović, refers to Reuf Bajrović and Emir Suljagić, mentions the statements of these individuals regarding the announcements of the High Representative's intervention in the BiH Election Law, which would allegedly amend this Law in accordance with the Constitutional Court's decision in the Ljubić Case.

All three were questioned by the State Investigation and Protection Agency, and now an order to suspend the investigation has been issued, and it has been concluded that these statements are more offensive but not suitable for inciting national hatred.
