Bridge in Petkovići, the only link to the rest of Teslić, restored

Today in the village of Uzinska near Teslić, a bridge that was completely destroyed in the May floods this year was reopened. The bridge was restored with funds from the European Union and the Municipality of Teslić, it was announced from the EU Delegation in BiH, reports the BH news agency Patria.

The funds allocated for the restoration of this bridge from the EU Flood Recovery Programme amount to 38,431 KM, as well as an additional 7,819 KM for bank protection works and riverbed regulation, while the Municipality of Teslić contributed 25,000 KM.

The bridge was officially opened by the Mayor of Teslić Municipality, Milan Miličević, and the Head of the EU Flood Recovery Programme, Edis Arifagić.

- We owe great gratitude to the European Union and UNDP for their support in eliminating the consequences of the floods that hit us. The reconstruction of the bridge represents a huge benefit for the residents of the Petkovići settlement and other neighbouring places because this bridge is their only real link with the rest of the municipality. We hope that in the coming period we will continue successful cooperation in other fields that will enable our citizens a better life - said the Mayor of Teslić Municipality, Milan Miličević.

As part of the EU Flood Recovery Programme, the local road to Rajševo was also restored, worth 18,679 KM. The works included the construction of a retaining wall, road reconstruction and riverbed regulation.

- Infrastructure restoration is one of the four basic components of the EU Flood Recovery Programme, because it enables residents of affected areas to return to normal daily activities. Of the planned 100 local roads and bridges, within this programme, we have so far restored 23 infrastructure facilities, including bridges, water supply facilities, roads and local roads. The restoration of an additional 33 facilities is underway, and the restoration of another 18 facilities is planned. According to our estimates, at least 30 roads and bridges will be completed by the end of this year - said Arifagić.
