Commemoration of the Crime in Ahmići Begins Tonight, Central Event Planned for Tomorrow!

(Patria) - Under the slogan "So that it is not forgotten and does not happen again," the 33rd anniversary of the crime against the Bosniak population in Ahmići, Donja Večeriska, and other places in the municipality of Vitez will be marked.

The central program titled "33 Years of Truth and Remembrance" includes multi-day religious, commemorative, and educational activities to be held from April 15 to 19 at several locations.

The program begins on April 15 in Ahmići with the evening prayer at the lower mosque, followed by a mevlud performed by the choir of the Islamic Community Council of Vitez and the Selam choir. A lecture will be given by the chief imam of Donji Vakuf, Prof. Amir ef. Čavak.

The central part of the commemoration is planned for April 16, the anniversary of the crime. On that day, participants will take part in the march "Path of Truth and Remembrance" on the route Zenica – Ahmići, while in Stari Vitez, a gathering and religious program are planned at the martyr cemetery. The commemoration will be held in the multimedia hall in Ahmići, followed by the laying of flowers and paying respects to the victims. The program also includes a joint noon prayer and addresses by officials from political and religious life.

A day later, on April 17 in Donja Večeriska, a peaceful walk titled "Time passes, truth remains" will be organized, along with a religious program featuring a guest lecture by hafiz Džemail Ibraković.

Activities continue on April 18 in Stari Vitez, where a religious program will be held at the Ahmed-agina mosque, along with a visit and paying of respects at the martyr memorial "Cisterna."

The final part of the program is scheduled for April 19 in Kruščica, where a forum titled "Kruščica between Camp and Freedom" will be held, with the participation of university professors Amir Kliko and Munib Kajmović.

The organizers emphasize that the goal of the commemoration is to nurture a culture of remembrance, raise awareness of the importance of truth, and promote coexistence and mutual understanding.
