Nearly 200 disenfranchised workers from Tuzla continued their journey towards the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina with Croatia this morning, writes the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).
Workers from the Aida footwear factory, the steel foundry, the Dita detergent factory, and the Konjuh furniture factory, who demanded the linking of their service record, payment of back wages, and urgent payment of a one-time aid of 400 KM from the authorities in BiH, spent Wednesday night in Srebrenik, and continued their journey towards the Orašje border crossing early this morning.
The disenfranchised workers protested for days in front of the Government of Tuzla Canton, demanding that the authorities help them solve their problems, as they have not received wages for months, but they received no help.
The workers then decided to leave BiH and seek a better life in the European Union. They hope that the EU will accept them and that they will find jobs in one of the countries there that will allow them to support their families, writes Patria.
The workers are walking towards the border, they are exhausted and frozen, and it is still unknown whether they will be allowed to enter the EU at all, writes Patria.
