
(Patria) - Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk, Minister of Health Enis Hasanović, Minister of Internal Affairs Admir Katica, Deputy Speaker of the KS Assembly Vibor Handžić, Director of the Institute for Addiction Diseases Rasema Okić, and representatives of the citizens of the Višnjik Local Community held a meeting yesterday to consider all proposals and possibilities for a permanent solution to the future operation of the Methadone Centre, with a special emphasis on citizen safety.
It was concluded at the meeting that efforts will continue to find a systemic solution that, in cooperation with expert services and competent institutions, will improve the work of the Methadone Centre and contribute to a higher level of security in the community. Participants also highlighted the importance of avoiding the stigmatization of this population, emphasizing the need for responsible public information to contribute to finding a quality solution.
As announced, in the coming period, the possibilities of relocating this centre to the premises of the University Clinical Centre Sarajevo or to the facility in Nahorevo will be considered, with the note that such a change requires time and careful preparation.
Until a final solution is found, more frequent police patrols in the area of the Višnjik Local Community have been welcomed, and it has also been agreed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, in cooperation with the competent services, will prepare a security assessment for the area of the Centar Municipality, with a special focus on the area of the Višnjik Local Community.
