On Energy Laws in Bihać: Una-Sana Canton Accelerates Towards Green Energy for Citizens and Economy

(Patria) - An energy conference was held in Bihać - presentations of newly adopted energy laws that should help solar power plants develop faster and more efficiently, especially those for own needs for households and the economy.

There was great interest in these presentations, attended by representatives of cantonal institutions and all municipalities in Una-Sana Canton, as well as electricity distribution companies and businessmen from this canton.

The conference was organized by the Government, the Ministry of Construction, Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection of Una-Sana Canton, in cooperation with the Sarajevo Energy Forum - SEF and the Solar Academy, which ensured the participation of experts - lecturers in this field. The platform Sve za solar also provided support for the organization.

“We want Una-Sana Canton to be a leader in renewable energy projects and to enable as many projects as possible for our citizens and economy, which is why it is important for us that our institutions are ready for this transition and processes. We will be maximally open to investors and citizens to help them implement these projects as quickly as possible. Our institutions and services will change and align our experiences with the best practices of the EU and the modern world,” said Mustafa Ružnić, Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton, at the opening of the conference.

“We must use the potential that Krajina has in renewable energy sources, especially solar, for the economic development of our region, for securing our own clean energy for citizens, and to help businessmen prepare for 2026 and avoid the obligation to pay expensive fees for exporting their goods to EU countries. At the Sarajevo Energy Forum held in June this year, we established clear steps and plans on how we can smartly use the years ahead of us and transition to clean energy in the interest of all citizens and the economy throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. That is why we have scheduled such conferences and will organize them in the coming weeks in other cantons and parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Senad Šepić, President of the Sarajevo Energy Forum - SEF and the Solar Academy.

The presentations were led by experts on energy issues in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Assistant Federal Minister Halko Balavac, and energy market expert Eldar Hukić from FERK, who, in an excellent atmosphere and interactive discussion with the participants, provided clear answers and guidelines that will be of great importance to representatives of institutions and the economy from Una-Sana Canton in developing renewable energy projects, for which there is growing interest in this canton, but a similar situation exists in other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
