Nurkić: We don't have the conditions, four of us sleep in one room, Bećiragić feels responsibility

(Patria) - A press conference of the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held, where Jusuf Nurkić, Džanan Musa, Miralem Halilović and selector Adis Bećiragić addressed the media.

Jusuf Nurkić spoke about the real situation in the national team and the problems faced by the basketball players.

“We have all gathered to send a strong message. For the last 30 years, we have been going through the same problems. We have to start with the conditions. We have big problems every year. We cannot get basic things, we have no one to turn to. We are achieving much better results than the conditions allow. We have to think about how to accommodate our families. We don't have the conditions, four of us sleep in a room. We are going to Poland to win the tournament. Politicians' salaries are never late, nothing is late for them. We don't have a conditioning coach. For the children who want to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future, we must ensure normal conditions. Here it's a circus, and they will go and play for other national teams…” said Nurkić, as reported by N1.

“The things Jusuf said were things we all know. Things must be resolved immediately. We don't have a plan; it's impossible that in one national team four people sleep in one room, touching each other's feet. It's important that the Federation stands behind us. While other teams have 9-10 preparatory matches, we have two. We are going to win the tournament, but the question is whether this is normal. We are not doing a good enough job in time regarding preparatory matches, travel…” said Musa.

Miralem Halilović, the captain of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, also addressed the media.

“We are grateful for the help. Our opinion is that the Federation must find a way to finance itself. Look at what Slovenia is doing. Financing is always a problem. Why not set up some fan shops, advertisements with guys like Garza, Nurkić… That frustrates us. Everything is always improvised. We go to the gym by taxi, we sleep in cars… We come here out of love. Anything other than winning the tournament is a failure,” said the captain of the Dragons.

“I feel a certain responsibility and I want to apologize. They are ready both mentally and physically. They behave well and train. Thank them for everything. They come out of love, we are obliged to provide them with what they need so that we don't even have to talk about it. These guys need an army of people around them, which is normal. We need a way to resolve this,” said selector Bećiragić.
