11 new cases of coronavirus infection in Republika Srpska

(Patria) - Since the last report on the epidemiological situation in Republika Srpska, in the last 24 hours, the Institute of Public Health of RS has tested 171 laboratory samples, and the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has been confirmed in another 11 people in this BiH entity.

Five people are from Trebinje, three from Gacko, and one each from Bileća, Čelnica and Oštra Luka. These are five males and six females.

Three women are of younger age, three of middle age, while all men are of middle age.

In most cases, it has been determined that these are family or close contacts with individuals previously confirmed to have the new coronavirus, or secondary contacts. Some individuals have symptoms of COVID-19, but without a clear epidemiological link.

Thirty-nine people who work and reside in nursing homes were tested, as well as 18 healthcare workers, including workers at the hemodialysis center in Banja Luka. Twenty-eight people from local quarantine or isolation facilities were also tested. All these samples are negative for the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).

Currently, the new coronavirus has been confirmed in a total of 545 people in Republika Srpska, 17 people have died from the disease caused by the new coronavirus, while 262 people have recovered from COVID-19.

In RS, a total of 7,872 people have been tested for the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) so far.

At the University Clinical Center of RS, a total of 97 people are being treated with confirmed or suspected presence of the coronavirus. In the COVID-19 ward, 34 patients with a more severe clinical picture are hospitalized, while eight patients are in isolation.

Eight patients require respiratory support, and one person is on non-invasive mechanical ventilation. In the Surgery Department (old location of UKC), there are three patients with a mild to moderate clinical form, and in the Pulmonology Department (old location of UKC), there are 43 patients with a mild to moderate clinical form.

In the "Sveti Apostol Luka" Hospital in Doboj, four patients with COVID-19 are being treated, in the Trebinje General Hospital eight people, in the "Srbija" Hospital in East Sarajevo five, and in the "Dr. Mladen Stojanović" Hospital in Prijedor two patients.

Regarding isolation facilities where people with confirmed tests for the new coronavirus but no symptoms of COVID-19 are located, there are 78 people in the "Nikola Tesla" Student Center in Banja Luka, 18 in the Student Dormitory in Trebinje, three in the Student Dormitory in East Sarajevo, and two people in the Zvornik Student Center.

In Republika Srpska, 4,209 people are currently under health supervision, and supervision has been completed for 19,854 people.

At seven border crossings into Republika Srpska, a total of 58 people entered during 24 hours, 63 people left quarantine and were sent to local quarantine facilities, and currently, a total of 11 people are in quarantine at seven border crossings.

The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of RS once again reminds citizens to strictly adhere to prescribed measures aimed at curbing the spread of the new coronavirus.
