(Patria) - Several hundred residents of the Sarajevo neighborhoods of Nahorevo, Pionirska dolina, Koševo II, and Betanija gathered again today in front of the Institute for Addiction Diseases of Sarajevo Canton (KS).
Their intention was to express their dissatisfaction with the relocation of the Methadone Center to this location.
A large number of Sarajevo police officers secured the gathering, but they could not prevent the gathered citizens from blocking the road.
The citizens simply "flooded" the police and walked from the turning point at Pionirska dolina to Nahorevo, in front of the Institute's building.
Traffic was halted during this time, causing huge traffic jams.
Let us remind you that the Methadone Center was previously located in the Park-Višnjik local community, but citizens protested then, so it was decided to relocate it to a new location.
The gathered citizens say that the solution lies in decentralization, following European and world practices. They also emphasize that this would make centers more accessible to users, reduce stigmatization, and increase the safety of citizens and neighborhoods.
