New migrant reception centre at the Vučjak site near Bihać

(Patria) - The Operational Staff for Migration Issues in BiH has accepted the proposal for a new location for the construction of a temporary reception centre for migrants in the Una-Sana Canton.

"At today's session held in Sarajevo, the proposal of the City of Bihać was accepted for the new reception centre to be located at the Vučjak site, which is eight kilometres from the city zone. By putting the new migrant centre into operation, the Bira and Miral reception centres will be relocated. It was emphasised that due to the fact that these two centres are located in densely populated areas, the situation is extremely difficult and the normal functioning of the city is jeopardised," the Operational Staff announced.

It was concluded that the Delegation of the European Union, whose representatives participated in today's meeting, should be asked to declare on this project and the financing of the site preparation, infrastructure installation, and placement of containers for migrant accommodation as soon as possible. The meeting was also attended by a delegation of the Una-Sana Canton, led by Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić and the Mayor of Bihać, Šuhret Fazlić.
