New Code of Conduct for MPs in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament: They must pay attention to their attire, not insult colleagues, and citizens can also file complaints

(Patria) - The 12th regular session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH will be held on Wednesday, June 26, and will be led by the new Speaker Dragan Mioković from Our Party. He replaced Mirjana Marinković Lepić in that position, who previously resigned for health reasons. She will return to the parliamentary benches.

The agenda of the session includes the Proposal of the Law on the City of Novi Travnik under an abbreviated procedure, and the Proposal of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Waste Management – abbreviated procedure, the Proposal of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Material Support for Families with Children in the Federation of BiH, the Proposal of the Law on Mining of the Federation of BiH.

Before the representatives is the Draft Law on Protection of the Right to a Fair Trial within a Reasonable Time, the Draft Law on Social Services in the Federation of BiH, the Draft Law on Mediation in Employment and Social Security of Unemployed Persons, the Draft Law on Civic Initiative and Protection of Citizens and Activists of the Federation of BiH, proposed by: Damir Nikšić and Sanela Klarić.

Although half a year has already passed, the Draft Program of Work of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH for 2024, as well as the Draft Code of Conduct for MPs in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, are on the agenda.

The agenda also includes several decisions, reports, and information, including the one on external and internal debt in the Federation of BiH as of December 31, 2022.

Regarding the Code of Conduct for MPs in the FBiH Parliament, it was drafted by a working group. The relationship of MPs with the media and the public is treated separately.

"MPs are responsible to all citizens during their mandate. Upon a justified request from the public, MPs will explain in detail the reasons for every decision they make and state all factors, especially the rules and regulations on which the decision is based. If this information is confidential, they will explain the reasons for its confidentiality.

MPs will respond with due diligence to all public inquiries regarding the performance of their duties, the reasons for their actions, and the functioning of the working bodies within their jurisdiction.

When it comes to relations with the media, MPs will respond honestly and fully to all media requests for information regarding the performance of their duties, but they will not provide any confidential information or information relating to the private lives of other appointed and elected officials."

Proceedings for a violation of the Code are initiated by a written complaint to the Ethics Committee, which must contain the complainant's name and surname, contact address, and handwritten signature. A complaint about a violation of the Code can be filed by any member of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina and by citizens.

The Ethics Committee is obliged to decide within 30 days from the date of filing the complaint.
