(Patria) - New Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei stated that Iran firmly believes in strengthening relations with neighboring countries, despite the current military attacks in the region.
In a written statement, only the third since he took office at the beginning of the month following his father's death, Khamenei stated that the new Iranian year will be a year of "resilient economy", in the "shadow of national unity" and "national security".
Although Iran is participating in conflicts and facing airstrikes, Khamenei's statement emphasizes the need for stable relations in the region.
The war between Iran on one side and Israel and the USA on the other began three weeks ago. Israel and the USA launched attacks on Iranian military and nuclear targets, with the justification that they want to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
Iran is retaliating with missile attacks on Israeli and American targets in the region, which includes a series of strikes on neighboring Gulf states such as Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain...
During the conflict, military facilities, energy infrastructure, and strategic objects were hit, and tensions have also spilled over to key maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.
