New BiH national record in shooting: Ema Škaljo better than Olympic champion Virginia Trasher

The third round of the BiH Premier League in shooting was held on Sunday in Trebinje, and the best shooters and teams from all over BiH competed in the air rifle and pistol disciplines for women and men.

A world-class result was achieved by a competitor from the Zenica Shooting Club, Ema Škaljo. She set a new national record of 416.4 rings. The significance of this result is highlighted by the fact that 415.9 rings were enough to qualify for the final at the Rio Olympic Games, and that the Olympic champion Virginia Trasher, USA, scored 416.3 rings.

This result, like Ema's previous achievements, confirms that the BiH Shooting Federation unjustly omitted this young competitor when proposing candidates for a wildcard to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

There were no major surprises in the team competition. In the air rifle event for men and women, the shooters from the Sarajevo Shooting Club were the best, and in the pistol discipline, the shooters from SK Geofon won.

Individual victories, in addition to Ema Škaljo, were achieved by Siniša Petković, pistol, with 566 rings, and Nedžad Fazlija, rifle, with 613.2 rings.
