Novalić: Spreča Farm is competitive with those in China and Germany

On the occasion of the start of exports of milk and dairy products from BiH to the European Union, four dairies, including Sarajevo's Milkos, visited the Spreča farm, owned by this company, this afternoon. The delegation included the Prime Minister of the FBiH Government Fadil Novalić, the Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Šemsudin Dedić, as well as the Prime Minister of the Tuzla Canton Bego Gutić, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

The delegation was welcomed by the director of Teloptic, the owner of Milkos, Nedim Čaušević, as well as the director of the Spreča farm, Ivica Jožef, and a tour of the farm was organized. On site, the delegation was convinced of the capacities of one of the most modern farms in Europe.

Unfortunately, news also arrived today that milk exports from BiH to the EU have been halted for now, because one country has filed a complaint. It is allegedly Croatia.

After touring Spreča Farm d.o.o., FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić stated that such a farm is competitive with companies in China, Germany, and Belgium.

- The fact is that we have this small problem with complaints; a committee will meet again on September 16. Here we see that all conditions are met; this is just one item that we will resolve, we should not be sad because of it. It will take us a month or two to resolve this item, while it takes years to build such a capacity. We are completely ready, not only us, but also the institutions that support us, our activity in attracting IPA funds which will open up from the new year. We will be able to utilize all sources that other EU member states can also use - pointed out Novalić.

The Prime Minister of the Tuzla Canton also gave his word regarding this farm:

- This is another brand that we have in the Tuzla Canton, and this is an indicator that the Tuzla Canton, or rather the Spreča field, has great potential in terms of production - added Novalić.

The capacity of the Spreča farm is 2,500 head, of which 1,300 are dairy cows. The annual milk production is 12 million liters.

In addition to milk production, it also covers the sectors of reproduction, crop production and mechanization, a biogas plant, greenhouse production, and an orchard.

New planned investments are worth around 27 million euros. The Spreča farm also has plantations of tree and berry fruits. They currently have 15 hectares of fruit plantations. Of this, 12 hectares are apples and pears, and raspberries are planted on three hectares. The plan is to further expand the orchard, with the ultimate goal of around 50 hectares of fruit. In addition to all this, Spreča farm will establish its own fruit plantations and grow high-quality seedlings to offer on the BiH market.
