At the National Theatre Sarajevo, a press conference was held today regarding the opening of the new 2015/16 artistic season, reports the Patria news agency.
Journalists were addressed by Marijela Hašimbegović, acting director of the National Theatre Sarajevo; Adema Pljevljak-Krehić, acting artistic director of Opera; Mirvad Kurić, acting artistic director of Drama; and Edina Papo, acting artistic director of Ballet.
The season begins on Friday, September 11, with a gala concert of opera arias performed by all soloists and the Choir of the NPS Opera, along with the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Through three stage segments: Drama, Opera, and Ballet, the temple of culture on the Obala will, this year as well, despite a limited budget, manage to delight the audience with new performances: four premieres and one co-production.
The premiere of Gaetano Donizetti's opera Lucia di Lammermoor, directed by Krešimir Dolenčić, will take place in October, when the dramatic play Antigone 2000, directed by Lenka Udovički and co-produced with the MESS festival, will also be performed on the boards that mean life.
In November, the premiere of Gogol's play Dead Souls, directed by Diego de Brea, is planned, while in December, ballet enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the premiere of the famous classical ballet The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
More information about the repertoire of the 2015/16 season can be found on the official website nps.ba.
