SBiH list bearer for Novo Sarajevo Omer Begović withdraws from election race

(Patria) - The bearer of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina list for the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council in the upcoming Local Elections, Omer Begović, has submitted a statement to the media in which he stated that he is withdrawing from the election race.

"I, Omer Begović, learned from the media this morning that I have been charged for failing to suspend a physical education teacher.

This indictment is politically motivated, aimed at jeopardizing the political struggle of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, of which I am a member and the bearer of the list for the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council.

Since all media, along with the information about the confirmation of the indictment against me as director, published my photograph with promotional material used exclusively in the election campaign, this supports the fact that this is a timed and politically motivated procedure.

Due to the public interest, I have decided to withdraw from the election race. Although I am the bearer of the list for the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council, and given that the lists are already known and the campaign is well underway, I am ready to sign a statement that even if I receive a mandate, I will not accept it.

After receiving the indictment, I will provide the public with final information regarding what I am being charged with. You can verify all information about this case with the relevant ministry, which I, as director, informed after giving my statement, and I submitted a response to the parliamentary question to the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, the Government, and the Ministry, which can be found on the official website of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly," Begović stated in the announcement.
