Football Association suspends Ahmedhodžić!

The Football Association of BiH has decided to suspend Anel Ahmedhodžić because it considers the injury of the stopper of the BiH national team to be not serious.

The BiH football house issued a statement.

“After the calls were sent to the players regarding the upcoming UEFA qualifying matches for the European Championship 2024 against Liechtenstein and Iceland, the first problems with injuries of several players from the official list of the „A“ national team appeared. Anel Ahmedhodžić did not appear at the gathering at the scheduled time, although a medical report was submitted by his club Sheffield United confirming that his injury is not of a serious nature.

Members of the professional staff and the medical team tried to contact Ahmedhodžić without success. No player is exempt from the responsibility of coming to the national team preparations, except when it comes to objective circumstances and sports injury. Since this is not a sports injury that prevents his arrival and stay at the preparations in Sarajevo, Anel Ahmedhodžić is suspended until further notice and disciplinary proceedings will be initiated against him in accordance with the valid regulations of the NS/FS BiH and the Regulations on National Teams of the NS/FS BiH.”, the association stated.

First, information appeared in the BiH media that Ahmedhodžić cancelled his arrival to coach Mehmed Kodro “for personal reasons”, and it was later confirmed that the BiH stopper was indeed injured, and that Sheffield United sent medical documentation to the Football Association of BiH, but the BiH football house does not consider the injury to be serious, and decided to suspend him.
