Football Association: We Strongly and Unreservedly Condemn the Shocking Behaviour of National Team Player Ognjen Vranješ

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Regarding the recent actions of long-standing national team player Ognjen Vranješ, who has damaged the reputation of the Association and the national team whose colours he defends through inappropriate messages and tattoos, the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina strongly and unreservedly condemns the shocking behaviour of national team player Ognjen Vranješ, because his messages, regardless of how they are expressed, are not in the spirit of the values advocated by the FA BiH and do not represent the qualities of a true athlete who should be a role model for younger generations.

- Vranješ's fighting spirit and attitude on the pitch have so far been unquestionable, however, his behaviour off the pitch is unacceptable and does not reflect the views, policy and goals of the Association and the national team that best represents Bosnia and Herzegovina in the world.

The FA BiH unequivocally condemns all forms of glorification of fascism and its supporters, which cause damage not only to the Association and the national team but to the entire country. The priority of every true athlete should be the fight against racism, discrimination, violence, hate speech, and thus the FA BiH expects all national team players to be bearers of new progressive ideas and progress, and not destroyers of the foundations on which the unity and integrity of the Association rest - the Association stated.

We remind you, in addition to arguing and quarrelling with BiH national team fans on social networks, Ognjen Vranješ, the defender of the "Dragons", has gone a step further with a new tattoo that "adorns" his body.

Namely, known as a tattoo enthusiast, Vranješ recently tattooed on his right arm the Chetnik Duke Momčilo Đujić, a notorious war criminal from World War II.
