Football: Italy or Portugal will not go to the World Cup

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The draw for the play-off matches for qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar was held in Zurich, Switzerland.

Scotland - Ukraine (group 1)

Wales - Austria (group 1)

Russia - Poland (group 2)

Sweden - Czech Republic (group 2)

Italy - North Macedonia (group 3)

Portugal - Turkey (group 3)

The winners of the semi-final matches will advance to the play-off final, and after that, we will get three participants for the World Cup. Teams from the same group will play each other in the final.

Along with Italy and Portugal, the seeded teams were Russia, Scotland, Sweden and Wales, and the unseeded teams were Austria, Czech Republic, North Macedonia, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine. Austria and the Czech Republic qualified for the play-offs through the Nations League, while the other teams qualified by finishing second in their respective groups.

The first matches will be played on March 24, 2022, and the decisive duels, after which the World Cup participants will be known, will be played five days later, specifically on March 29.

The hosts of the final matches will be determined later, and it is worth adding that the seeded teams will host the semi-final matches.

The World Cup draw is scheduled for April next year, and we remind you once again that the World Cup in Qatar will be held from November 21 to December 18 next year.

The group winners who have secured their place at the World Cup are: Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Croatia, England and Germany.
