The girl who broke the hearts of millions around the world due to a photograph in which she raised her hands in surrender to a camera she mistook for a weapon, is in the hands of Al Qaeda, writes the Daily Mail.
Four-year-old Hudea was photographed late last year by Osman Sagirli in the Atmeh refugee camp, just 10 kilometers from the Turkish border. She, her mother, and three other children lived in the Syrian camp after her father was killed in the Hama massacre in 2012.
However, two weeks ago, the family made a fateful decision to move south, towards the city of Idlib. Over the weekend, they fell into the hands of the Syrian branch of Al Qaeda. The family is in danger of becoming victims of the battle between the regime and the rebels.
Nusra rebels in Idlib plan to impose Sharia law. This is a group with a reputation for violence, whose atrocities can only be compared to those seen in the territory controlled by the Islamic State.
Worryingly, the group, which once again pledged allegiance to Al Qaeda last month, wants to create its own 'Islamic state'. The group is known for using suicide bombers to achieve its goals, and in recent years has claimed responsibility for mass executions, murders of journalists, and priests.
