Germany defeats Serbia to become world champion in basketball

The German national basketball team is the world champion. In today's final in the Philippines, the Germans defeated the Serbian team with a score of 83:77 and for the first time took the title of the best basketball team in the world.

Germany and Serbia played an excellent final of the Mundobasket in Manila, and in the end, the Germans achieved the historic trophy of the best team in the world.

Serbia opened the game with a 5:0 run, but Germany did not allow the Eagles to pull away early, and the game was soon tied. A problem for the Eagles was the injury of Ognjen Dobrić, who had to go to the locker room after only two minutes.

The teams exchanged leads until the end of the first quarter. However, Serbia had a slightly better finish and after 10 minutes of play had a three-point lead, 26:23.

The second quarter saw a real back-and-forth. Both teams had their periods of play, and Bogdan Bogdanović and Dennis Schroder dominated in those moments.

Excellent basketball was played in Manila, and the teams went into halftime with a tied score of 47:47, and the final was completely open.

Schroder continued to score everything he could in the second half. Some very controversial referee decisions followed in favor of Germany, which took a double-digit lead with two minutes left in the third quarter, 64:53.

Svetislav Pešić's team could not make a run in the remaining two minutes. Germany completely neutralized Serbia and entered the final quarter with a 12-point lead, 69:57.

Serbia, of course, did not give up. They managed to open the final quarter well, got back into the game, and reduced the deficit to only seven points (71:64) before the first timeout called by the German coach.

Aleksa Avramović was playing the game of his life. He hit a three-pointer for 73:69, but despite good defense, Voigtmann immediately responded and increased the lead to plus seven.

Serbia then stalled. They failed to capitalize on several possessions, and it seemed like Germany had finished the job in this game. However, Aleksa Avramović thought otherwise.

The incredible guard of the Serbian team hit a three-pointer, and then three free throws, bringing Serbia back into the game with a minute and a half left, 78:75. Bogdanović then stole the ball, Gudurić had a chance to tie with a three-pointer, but missed.

Serbia managed to get within two points through Gudurić, but Schroder was there when needed and scored for 81:77 with 20 seconds left in the game. Avramović missed a three-point shot, Gudurić threw the ball away, and that was it for Serbia in this game.

Dennis Schroder led the Germans to victory in the final with 27 points, and Franz Wagner added 19. For Serbia, Aleksa Avramović scored 21.
