Germany is a promised land for many refugees, and it is often the case precisely because they have family ties there. One such person is Ali, a musician from Syria, who is currently in Preševo in southern Serbia waiting to complete the last part of his journey to his destination, writes B92, reports the Patria News Agency.

"I left for Germany because of my family. My family is there, and I know I will find a job there more easily," he said.

Besides many having family there, resolving refugee status in Germany is also relatively simple, and it is precisely this fact that most attracts people fleeing ruin in countries like Syria and Afghanistan.

"Simply put, people go where their relatives and compatriots are. No one goes where there is no one. They go to start a new life," said Radoš Đurović from the Serbian Centre for Asylum Seekers.

Refugees in Germany, depending on the cities where they are located, are housed in apartments or converted sports halls and the like. They can breathe easier there, as they are provided with accommodation, food, and public transport. Each receives 143 euros monthly, which means a family of four can receive up to 600 euros per month. Asylum is also granted without major complications.

Despite attacks by right-wingers and neo-Nazis, Germany is trying to welcome refugees with open arms and help them as much as possible.
