Nikšić: The situation is very serious, citizens are still trapped in their homes, we are finding ways to reach them

(Patria) - Prime Minister of FBiH Nermin Nikšić announced on social networks and confirmed that due to heavy rainfall during the night, several places in the area of Jablanica, Konjic, Kiseljak, Kreševo and Fojnica are affected by floods and landslides.

"Since last night, I have been in communication with teams on the ground and we are coordinating rescue efforts, despite all the difficulties we have with communication due to damaged networks. The situation is very serious because numerous citizens are still trapped in their homes and we are finding ways to reach them. Unfortunately, there have been casualties, but we do not yet have all the information related to that. We will inform the public about everything as soon as we receive confirmation from the field.

All competent and emergency teams have been mobilized since the early morning hours. They have managed to evacuate a certain number of citizens who were trapped by the water in their homes, and they continue to patrol the affected areas to save people and provide them with assistance. We expect additional help during the day. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is also involved in the operation, whose helicopter has set off to evacuate an injured child.
The most important thing now is to evacuate the endangered population and prevent further damage," said Nikšić.
