(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić spoke today with a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission, which included Mission Chief David Amaglobeli and Resident Representative of the Mission in BiH Andreas Tudyk.
The meeting was held as part of regular consultations.
Nikšić presented the main financial indicators to the representatives of the IMF Mission.
Among other things, they discussed the implications of global events on the domestic economy, noting that even significantly larger countries in the world have felt the consequences of the war in the Middle East, and that it is quite expected that these have also affected the economy in our country.
In this context, the Federal Prime Minister emphasized that the Government of the Federation of BiH has undertaken a series of activities in the past period aimed at protecting the standard of living of citizens, especially pensioners and the most vulnerable categories of the population.
He stated that some of the measures adopted to protect citizens from inflationary shocks include limiting the price of bread, freezing the lowest prices of 100 products, as well as limiting the margins on retail and wholesale prices of oil and oil derivatives.
Furthermore, among the measures adopted by the Government of the Federation of BiH to strengthen competitiveness, preserve jobs, and protect workers are the increase in the minimum wage amount, as well as enabling employers to pay tax-free one-time assistance to employees.
Support for the economy was also provided through a reduction in the total contribution rate, as well as through various incentives. It was noted that despite global events, in the first five months of this year, a noticeable increase in revenues was recorded, and that thanks to the fiscalization of transactions, this trend will continue.
The representatives of the IMF Mission informed Nikšić about the expected financial trends in the future period in the context of global events and the challenges they bring.
Discussions were held on reform measures and the benefits that would result from the adoption of the Growth Plan. An unavoidable topic was also the resolution of the issue of state property.
The interlocutors agreed that resolving this important issue would lead to a major investment cycle from which all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina would greatly benefit.
