Nikšić confirms: Cengiz company to renovate railway in Jablanica

(Patria) - The FBiH Government has apparently accepted the letter of intent from the Cengiz company, which offered a donation for the repair of the railway in Jablanica. Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić announced on social media that Cengiz will lead the renovation.

"To be precise, the delay in the renovation of the railway line is not solely the responsibility of the former management of the Railways. I consider the Government responsible for that as well, and of course myself as the most responsible person in the Government.

“I am particularly sorry about the fact that I trusted for too long that the agreement we had in the very first week after the accident between the public companies Railways, Motorways, and Roads of the Federation of BiH would be realized. Unfortunately, due to obstructions in the implementation of the plan, caused by different interpretations of the Law and fear of responsibility, what was fastest and most efficient was not realized. The primary ones in the chain of responsibility are the heads of the Railways management. In the end, the Government took responsibility upon itself, and after their change, we started the process of renovating the railway,” Nikšić stated and added:

“There are no excuses for further waiting, and we will not tolerate new obstructions from anyone. I especially express my gratitude to the Cengiz company, which decided to teach a lesson to everyone who hid behind the fear of responsibility and donate the work and construction for the final solution of the renovation. I expect the work to be completed in a shorter period than the time we have waited for the start of the work.

The FBiH Government stands at their disposal, and we have engaged the Public Procurement Agency to resolve the first part of the work as efficiently and in accordance with all regulations as possible. In the further work, they can count on any form of assistance they may need, but there can be no more delays.”

Namely, there was a possibility of donating money to the Railways for the renovation of the line, however, after receiving the money, it would be necessary to issue a Public Call for a contractor, which would mean a process of selection lasting several months, and only then the work itself.

The second possibility, as Cengiz has done, is to donate materials and labor; in that case, the FBiH Railways are obliged only to accept the donation.
