Nikšić again yields to Čović: Former UIO director Miro Džakula to be appointed director of Elektroprijenos BiH

(Patria) - Miro Džakula, former director of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, will soon be appointed general director of Elektroprijenos BiH, Istraga.ba has learned.

At the last meetings of the ruling coalition, the leaders of the Trojka agreed that the position of director of Elektroprijenos BiH would again go to HDZ BiH. In this distribution, Dubravko Brdar from HDZ BiH, Alaudin Alihodžić and Amir Avdagić (Trojka), and Cvjetko Žepinić from SNSD should be appointed as executive directors. The sixth position in the Management Board should go to SNSD.

The decision on appointment is made by the Management Board of Elektroprijenos. To recall, at the beginning of September this year, the Council of Ministers of BiH, at an extraordinary telephone session, passed a Decision on the appointment of members of the Management Board of the company Elektroprijenos Bosne i Hercegovine d.d. Banja Luka from the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska. At the proposal of the Government of the Federation of BiH, Haris Krvavac, Vlatko Marinović, Emina Junuz, and Bože Bago were appointed as members of the Management Board of Elektroprijenos BiH for a five-year term, and at the proposal of the Government of Republika Srpska, Marko Šilj, Bojan Rebić, and Slađan Kresojević.

Elektroprijenos BiH is a joint-stock company owned by the Federation of BiH and Republika Srpska. This company, responsible for electricity transmission, has been managed by HDZ BiH since 2013. Namely, in December 2013, after the prior consent of the then Prime Ministers of the Federation and Republika Srpska, Nermin Nikšić and Željka Cvijanović, the Management Board appointed Matan Žarić as general director. Since then, HDZ BiH, in cooperation with the authorities from Republika Srpska, has used the blockade mechanism and has not allowed the removal of its cadre from the director's position. Žarić remained the general director of Elektroprijenos BiH even though his mandate had long expired. A criminal proceeding was also conducted against him due to suspicious procurements, but he was acquitted.

After the coalition consisting of SDP, HDZ, NiP, Naša stranka, and SNSD was formed in 2023, it was agreed that the Indirect Taxation Authority would be left to SNSD, and that the former director of the ITA, Miro Džakula, would be appointed director of Elektroprijenos. With the appointment of Zoran Tegeltija (SNSD) to the position of director of the ITA, the agreement was partially implemented. However, it has now been finally agreed that HDZ will also appoint its cadre to Elektroprijenos BiH. Thus, the federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, for the second time in eleven years, will cede Elektroprijenos BiH to an HDZ BiH cadre, which means that this party will control Elektroprijenos BiH for fifteen years in continuity.
