SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Members of the SDP who decide to become part of the newly formed Social Democratic Movement, i.e. the Movement for Social Justice and Democracy (SPD), are eliminating themselves from the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This was stated today by the President of the SDP, Nermin Nikšić, in the N1 show "Dan uživo", adding that the SDP treats the SPD as a new political entity on the BiH scene.
"Yesterday, official confirmation was received, they will register - but the goal is for them to become a party," said Nikšić.
"As far as we in the SDP are concerned, we wish them luck and success in their work and that this entity thrives. I only hope that in about six months we won't have three movements again. Some split off in 2002, then another in 2012, then 2014. I hope some have changed, that they will stay," said Nikšić.
Although at the meeting of the SPD's initial committee it could be heard that they were inviting all left-wing leaders, Nikšić commented on the absence of himself and the leader of Naša stranka with the words "an uninvited guest knows their place."
"It is not true, as reported in some media, with half-true and inaccurate information that follow the SDP. We treated this as a new entity, those who decide on something like that - eliminate themselves from the SDP. It is not logical for them to operate both in the SDP and there," said Nikšić, answering the question about the fate of SDP cadres who attended yesterday's meeting.
He confirmed that the final decision will be made by the Main Committee of the SDP.
