(Patria) - A final verdict against Milorad Dodik, regardless of political or legal interpretations, would in any serious democracy be grounds for at least an internal party review, if not for distancing by his closest associates.
However, in the case of SNSD and the broader political scene in RS, this is not happening. On the contrary, statements of support and relativization are being issued, all of which give strength to Milorad Dodik.
Thus, SNSD Vice-President and member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, dismissed as irrelevant speculations that she might succeed Milorad Dodik at the head of Republika Srpska and SNSD after he was handed down a final verdict by the BiH Court.
– These are the ramblings of the Sarajevo quasi-political circles – Cvijanović stated, emphasizing that SNSD remains with its leader.
– SNSD is a serious party, we have a president named Milorad Dodik – she said.
She stated that “the Sarajevo Trio needs Schmidt to suspend their constitution in order to come to power,” while SNSD, according to her, wins thanks to voters.
Cvijanović accused political Sarajevo, foreign diplomats, and the opposition from RS of a “synchronized campaign” and abuse of the judiciary.
– This is the catharsis of frustrations of a foreign colonizer who has imagined that he has been entrusted with the mission to be above the Constitution and Dayton – she stated.
In the end, she questioned whether political Sarajevo had truly achieved victory with this verdict, saying: "I claim it has not, and it will be seen".
Let us remind you, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has finally convicted Milorad Dodik to one year in prison and six years of prohibition from political activity for disrespecting the decisions of the High Representative.
