Independent body to open applications for Director and Deputy Director of the Federal Police Administration tomorrow

(Patria) - The Independent Body of the FBiH Parliament will hold a session tomorrow to review the received applications for the Director and Deputy Director of the Federal Police Administration.

Currently, as Patria has learned, a total of three applications have been received, but the envelopes do not contain names or the positions for which the applications were submitted. It is possible that some applications were sent by mail, so it is not excluded that they might arrive tomorrow before the session itself.

For further procedures to be carried out, it is necessary to have three candidates apply for each position. One application has been received for the Deputy Director, namely Vahidina Šahinpašić, head of the War Crimes Department of SIPA.

The position of Director of the Federal Police Administration has been vacant since Dragan Lukač retired in 2019. FUP was led by Ensad Korman from then until his appointment as Deputy Director of the BiH Border Police in June 2023. Since then, the position of Deputy Director of FUP has also been vacant.

By decision of the FBiH Government, Vahidin Munjić led the Federal Police Administration, and is now under investigation in the "Spengavanje" affair. Munjić communicated directly with the Prime Minister of FBiH Nermin Nikšić, as well as his chief of staff Arijana Huseinović-Ajanović. Four individuals are under restrictive measures due to multiple corruption offenses.

The Federal Police Administration is currently led by Enes Zeljković.

The Law on Internal Affairs of FBiH specifies that the Minister of Internal Affairs of FBiH and the Director of FUP cannot be from the same constituent nation. However, it is often heard in public that a Croat should take the position of director. According to the law, only a Bosniak cannot be appointed, not that it explicitly must be a Croat.
