A session of the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH has begun in Sarajevo, where members of this board will open the received applications of candidates for the Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), writes the Patria News Agency.
As confirmed by the Independent Board, nine sealed envelopes arrived by the closing of the competition, of which eight are Serbs and one is a Bosniak.
The Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH is conducting the application procedure, and the list consisting of a maximum of five candidates will be forwarded to the state Minister of Security, after which he will propose one from the list to the Council of Ministers for confirmation of appointment.
The new head of SIPA, who will replace acting director Đuro Knežević, should be appointed by October 5. For now, it is known that this position will go to someone from the Serb people, and judging by the constellation of relations in state government, it could be a police officer close to the Alliance for Changes.
We remind you that the former director of SIPA, Goran Zubac, was dismissed after being found guilty of dereliction of duty before the Court of BiH. As the director of SIPA, he refused to assist the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies when the Presidency of BiH building was set on fire during violent unrest on February 7, 2014.
