Ibrahim Selimović returned to his native Glogova near Bratunac in 2002, after the Serbian aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina ended seven years earlier, writes the Patria news agency.
In Glogova, with her family, Vesna Vidović was already living, having settled in the village a few years earlier, specifically at the beginning of the conflict, after she had to leave Zenica.
Ibrahim was a Bosniak returnee, Vesna an Orthodox refugee. Nevertheless, this did not prevent them from starting a family, in the same year Ibrahim returned to his hearth.
Ibrahim's life would end with a sudden heart attack in 2006, and Vesna would remain living with her children in poverty, on only 105 KM of assistance and food she receives from humanitarian organizations, among which the Association "Svjetlo" has stood out all these years.
- We didn't live luxuriously even when my Ibrahim was alive, but it was easier for us because we had security in him. Now it's just the children and me, and it's very hard for us - says Vesna for the Patria agency, whose only wish is that her children Ahmed (10), Nurija (9), and Veldin (5) have enough food and never be separated from her.
Vesna says she lives hard, but she is not unhappy. Happiness was given to her by God, and she believes He will also send people who will give her some animals.
This brave mother says that a cow or a few goats would be of great help, which would bring enough milk for her small family. With the vegetables she grows in the garden, she and the children would no longer have to worry about food, writes Patria.
All those who wish to help Vesna can contact her at phone number 062 798 102.
You can also make a donation to the Citizens' Association "Svjetlo", address: Ilidža, Plandište no. 2 with the note for Vesna.
