Something New in Sarajevo: Muhamed Alaim Opens a Football School for Goalkeepers

Muhamed Alaim, former goalkeeper of FK Sarajevo and a member of the club's championship generation, is launching a football school exclusively for goalkeepers in December within the Center for Sports and Recreation, reports the Patria News Agency.

He came up with this idea after noticing that more and more children want to be goalkeepers, while football schools have very few goalkeepers who pass on their knowledge to future generations.

- We have been planning for a long time to open a school within the Center for Sports and Recreation, given that we have all the infrastructure. We were waiting for the right moment to realize it. In December, I might be able to work more to launch the goalkeeper school, and then we'll see how it works – Alaim told NAP.

According to Alaim, he has high hopes for this project, primarily because he will have all the necessary infrastructure for his work.

- I think it should look good because we have all the conditions. I simply have everything a school needs. Director Jasmina Polić has given me a free hand, I have the hall, the Koševo stadium, which not many clubs or football schools have. You simply can't find yourself in a situation where you don't have training slots, where it's winter, where you don't have hot water, and so on – Alaim added.

Initially, Alaim will work alone, and the children will be divided by age group.

- We have everything ready for all age groups, pioneers, fledglings, cadets, etc. Each trainee will have their own program, because you can't work with everyone the same way. I have been involved in sports work and still am. I have worked individually my whole life, and the goal of this project is individual work. We will determine our approach based on individual needs. We focus exclusively on individual work for different age groups – Alaim added.

Given that goalkeepers are increasingly becoming key players on the green fields, Alaim believes it is necessary to work with children more and more professionally.

- I have the knowledge I gained working with great names like Enver Lugušić and Refik Muftić, and now it's up to me to pass that knowledge on to others. The way things are done now, I don't think it's good, and that's why I haven't taken such jobs until now, even though there were offers. I want to try it myself now with the help of the Center for Sports and Recreation – Alaim added.

Jasmina Polić, director of the Center for Sports and Recreation, believes that this project will yield great results.

- I am sure that this project will have the full support of the Center for Sports and Recreation, and of course, the Municipality of Centar as our founder. I think this is a project that will come to life and, in the long run, yield great results. Under the guidance of Muhamed Alaim, who is competent and has something to pass on to children, it is possible to create new champions. We will support Alaim in familiarizing himself with all the new technologies in this process and applying them in his work with children – says Polić.
