NO MAJORITY Goran Selak's vote on March 17: Krišto should already prepare another proposal for BiH Security Minister

(Patria) - The House of Representatives of the BiH PA will vote on March 17 on the proposal of the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH Borjana Krišto to appoint Goran Selak as Security Minister of BiH. This position has been vacant since the dismissal of Nenad Nešić at the end of January, although he has been in custody since the end of December, and all duties were taken over by his deputy Ivica Bošnjak (HDZ BiH).

On Wednesday, March 12, the Commission for the Preparation of the Election of the Council of Ministers will be held, which should declare itself on the proposal to elect Goran Selak as Security Minister.

Saša Magazinović, head of the SDP BiH Club in the House of Representatives of the BiH PA, also commented on these two sessions.

"I will not attend the session because the BiH delegation has an obligation to participate in the work of the session of the Parliamentary Committee on Stabilization and Association between BiH and the EU in Strasbourg together with EU MPs. One of the topics is the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The commission's opinion is not binding, although I believe it will be negative.

What is important and binding is the vote of the House of Representatives on the candidate for minister, which will take place at the session on 03/17. At that session, this proposal will be rejected by a large majority of votes.

After that, the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers should propose a candidate for Security Minister who can gain support in Parliament, and that is not a candidate that SNSD or any of their partners will propose," Magazinović stated.

Selak could get votes from SNSD and possibly HDZ BiH, whose president Dragan Čović has not yet expressed a clear stance towards SNSD even after the attack on the constitutional order orchestrated by Milorad Dodik, the RS Government, and the majority in the NSRS.

Last week, the parties of the 'trojka' also submitted a request for the dismissal of deputy ministers from the SNSD ranks. Although the House of Representatives of the BiH PA voted for the dismissal of ministers Staša Košarac and Srđan Amidžić, this has not yet been considered by the House of Peoples. Delegates from SNSD left two emergency sessions, thereby breaking the quorum for further work.
