After a meeting held today in Banja Luka between the leaders of SNSD and HDZ BiH, Milorad Dodik and Dragan Čović, Dodik told reporters that he does not depend on the charity of Izetbegović or Čović for SNSD to be in state-level government. However, he noted that he would be more relaxed if his party were represented in state-level government bodies, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.
"We are not waiting for any charity. We are not interested in the emotional or any other commitment of Bakir Izetbegović," Dodik said.
The SNSD leader stressed that at the level of Republika Srpska they are legitimate political representatives, and that the same process is happening now as four years ago, when they were pushing HDZ out of power, and now taking "second-placed or losers" from RS into government at the BiH level.
Also, Dodik said that he is personally closer to the decision to give up power at the state level and that SNSD does not want to "force its way in" to be represented in government.
He also said that it is easier for SNSD not to have responsibility for the state level and that no one can expect them to applaud the parliamentary majority that may eventually be formed in the BiH Parliament.
Patria's reporting confirmed, Davor Čordaš minister
Speaking about cooperation with HDZ, Dodik emphasized that the earlier agreement between these two parties, defined by common political interests, remains in force.
"We have secured a place for their representative in the RS government for HDZ, whether they are a parliamentary party or not. So far, Davor Čordaš has done this as minister for refugees and displaced persons. We will continue like that. They, on the other hand, will secure a place for SNSD in the FBiH Government," Dodik added.
