No End in Sight for the Crisis in FBiH: SDA Collegium Could Provide Answers to Some Key Questions

Tomorrow in Sarajevo, a session of the Collegium of the Party of Democratic Action will be held, and a meeting of the SDA with three „smaller“ parties (BPS, A-sda and SBiH) is expected very soon, which, judging by announcements, will form the government in the Federation of BiH together with the SDA and HDZ BiH, reports the Patria news agency.

However, within the SDA, due to internal disagreements and a struggle for positions in state-owned companies, things are not going exactly according to plan, as party officials claimed that by the beginning of September they should have a new majority and the FBiH Government, but given that the 1st is already on Tuesday, it is simply unbelievable that this will actually happen.

Within the SDA, they are currently preoccupied with divisions, and the quartet from the BiH Parliament, which has many grievances against the party leader, sent a letter to Bakir Izetbegović outlining their demands and dissatisfaction. However, besides Senad Šepić, Šemsudin Mehmedović, Sadik Ahmetović and Salko Sokolović, Izetbegović is also being given „headaches“ by Mirsad Kukić, who demands that Nevad Ikanović be elected to the Management Board of Elektroprivreda. However, this is not to the liking of Asim Sarajlić, the chairman of the Personnel Commission, who wants to see Bajazit Jašarević at the helm of this company.

On the other hand, Izetbegović must also face Dragan Čović, the president of HDZ BiH, who is not exactly happy with the fact that he will have only 50 votes in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, and a minority government.

As Patria learns, Izetbegović is trying to strike a good balance and find a middle ground, but at this moment it is impossible, and the number of dissatisfied members within the party is growing, who are publicly expressing their dissatisfaction with the way Asim Sarajlić, Denis Zvizdić and Aljoša Čampare work.

Tomorrow's Collegium could provide answers to some of the questions that have recently been directly harming the citizens of FBiH, because tomorrow the mandate of the current director of Elektroprivreda expires, and a new one has not been verified, nor is his name known.

However, members of the SDA Collegium are not exactly in the mood to give statements, but talks, as we learn, have been ongoing all weekend. The phones at the SDA have not stopped ringing, and whether there will be any effect will be seen tomorrow.

As we learn, the session will also discuss the session of the Presidency of this party, which will be held somewhere in the RS, most likely in Banja Luka, where the topic will be the situation of returnees in the RS.

All of this is being watched from the shadows by the Democratic Front, which still has three ministers and the Vice President of FBiH, Milan Dunović, in the FBiH Government, and without whose signature a new Government cannot be appointed. HDZ demands that the DF step down from power entirely, which implies Dunović's resignation. Izetbegović, however, said that he will not force anyone, but that the DF cannot keep „a foot in the door“ and that, if they go into opposition, they must do so with full capacity.

Dunović, however, states that he will not resign until he sees 50 signatures of the new parliamentary majority, and how long that will take remains to be seen, but the solution and the crisis in FBiH could last for some time.
