23 Months Since Terrorism at Partisan Memorial Cemetery: Investigation Still Ongoing, Authorities Silent and Making False Promises

(Patria) - Today, May 14, marks 23 months since the brutal terrorist attack on the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar - a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As is customary in Mostar, the police remain silent, or rather, inactive. The investigation is still ongoing, they say. The Prosecutor's Office also remains silent.

"The authorities are silent and making false promises, assuring us that everything is fine in Mostar, while the National Monument of BiH is crumbling due to their neglect.

In the meantime, so-called fans, who have largely become executors of dirty jobs for shadowy masterminds, are sowing fear across the city. They attack and beat others, break into homes with weapons, target the infrastructure of rival clubs—in short, they do everything for which they did not gather, or perhaps they did, while cheering is just a facade. At the same time, they greet visitors to the Partisan Memorial Cemetery with offensive taunts and Nazi salutes. The police duly observe this but do not react.

All in all, the conclusion is that the atmosphere created by the continuous destruction of the Partisan Memorial Cemetery has spread to the entire city, and many citizens, as in the past, cross the infamous Boulevard, the former war line, with great caution. The silence of all relevant institutions and the lack of decisive action lead us to think that perhaps this was the goal.

When viewed in this light, it is clear even to a layperson that cheering is a facade for activities based on the principles of European neo-Nazi groups, which, here, according to issued statements, are defended by the clubs themselves and current politics.

We repeat for the umpteenth time, these are not hooligan outbursts; this is much more than that, and the consequences are visible to everyone in the city today. Burying one's head in the sand has dangerously radicalized the situation in the city. Therefore, gentlemen from politics, call things by their real name and act as is done in the civilized world against such phenomena and their creators, before it is too late. If you continue with inaction, it will be clear that you are showing everyone that you are accomplices and creators of this evil. Strict sanctions and a ban on activities for all those who spread hatred, intolerance, and disrupt national and all other relations in the city through sports are the only solution. Enough is enough.

Therefore, due to the overall situation in the city, we demand an urgent session of the City Council and the Assembly of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton with only one item on the agenda: the security situation in the city. Death to fascism - freedom to the people!" stated the UABRNOR Mostar.
