Fans of Turkish clubs welcomed Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray players: No rivalry, only unity!

(Patria) - The entire football world is talking about the move by Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray not to play in Saudi Arabia where the Turkish Super Cup match was supposed to take place. Turks welcomed this decision, leading to unprecedented unity among fans, and memorable photos are coming from Istanbul.

Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray players did not play the Super Cup match that was scheduled yesterday in Saudi Arabia. The match was postponed after the organizers banned the players from wearing t-shirts of Kemal Pasha Atatürk.

Both teams promptly left Arabia and headed home. Fans gave them an incredible welcome, and besides the passionate fans of Fener and Gala, fans of other clubs were also present.

The scenes from Saudi Arabia have completely united Turkey. It no longer matters who supports whom, and at this moment, only the country founded by Kemal Pasha Atatürk 100 years ago matters.

Turkish Fox TV journalist Elvan Arat had a very unpleasant night with the police in Saudi Arabia. He and the cameraman were almost arrested.

"The Saudis tried to arrest us and smash our camera. They tried with all their might to put us in a police car. Fenerbahçe's security team reacted and helped us. We are fine now," said Arat.

Media reports that the head of Turkish football has resigned, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also demanded his resignation.


The Saudis tried to exact some kind of revenge. They tried to prevent the teams from leaving the country, but in the end, the planes successfully took off towards Istanbul and arrived in the early morning hours.

The welcome was truly surreal. Scenes were created that are going around the world and will be remembered for a long time.

The decision of the Turkish Football Federation regarding a new date for the match will be announced very soon, and it is very likely that it will be played just before the start of the second half of the season.
