Continuation of the session on June 23: Election of mayor, deputies and leadership of the Sarajevo City Council in question

(Patria) - The continuation of the Constitutive Session of the Sarajevo City Council will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 10:00 AM in the City Hall.

We remind you that this session began on May 27, but due to disagreements and lack of agreement within the parties of the troika, it was interrupted. The problem arose regarding the candidates for the leadership of the Sarajevo City Council.

According to information from Patria, the SDP wants two positions of deputy chairperson, while they would also have the deputy mayor Predrag Puharić. The Chairperson of the City Council should be Alen Girt (NS).

Narod i pravda does not agree that the SDP should get two positions in the Council leadership, and they now also have a candidate for one position.

According to the agreement, NIP was given the right to nominate the mayor, and that is Samir Avdić, who is also the current councilor in Novo Sarajevo. He was previously deputy mayor.

Avdić's deputies should be Mirela Džehverović from Naša stranka and Puharić.

It is not excluded that this session on Monday will again face a debacle given the relations within the Troika and the different appetites of individuals.

Incidentally, out of 28 councilors, the Troika bloc has 16 councilors. The SDP has the most with seven, Naša stranka five, and Narod i pravda four.
