National Theatre gifts the play "Wild Meat" to all theatre lovers

As a gift, at the beginning of the new artistic season, all theatre lovers have been given the opportunity to enjoy the acting virtuosity of the doyen of BH theatre at a promotional price of 5 KM: Zijah Sokolović, Josip Pejaković, Vesna Mašić, and others, who will perform the drama play "Wild Meat" based on the text of Macedonian writer Goran Stefanovski, directed by Dino Mustafić, at the National Theatre Sarajevo stage on Thursday, September 17, 2015, starting at 7:30 PM, it was announced from the National Theatre, reports the Patria News Agency.

Even though this drama, according to Dino Mustafić, is a "classic" of South Slavic dramaturgy, written in the 80s of the twentieth century, it has lost none of its strength and relevance, but has rather opened up new questions and dilemmas.
The thematic-ideological framework of this "drama of the century," as many theatre critics and theatre scholars have called it, opens up possibilities for new readings because it offers a house in the Balkans as a metaphor for a state, a people, a culture, a mythology, and finally, a family and tradition that is collapsing under the threat of the "new order."

The beginning of the 21st century gives this drama a new context at a time when the Balkans seem lost and disoriented in relation to Europe, which is coming to "our home" with neoliberal ideology, enslaving everything in its path with money and material power, leading people into economic slavery.

The desire to be rich and successful, to build a career and go to the West, to find happiness and materialize dreams of a better life, is hindered by family and traditional morality. The tragic cycle of wars and losses, Mustafić further writes, the rebellion against the "excess of history" that spills over through generations from fathers to sons, gets stuck like a "hair in the throat," like foreign tissue that brings misfortune, because it does not understand life in the Balkans. The roofs of the houses where we lived happily and comfortably are being torn down, because a new era of foreign capital is coming, which brings devastating consequences in the form of wars, violence, and fear of losing identity.
