Extraordinary medical examinations ordered for all GRAS drivers!

(Patria) - In relation to the traffic accident that occurred on February 18, 2026, near Carev most, involving a tram and passenger vehicles, GRAS provided the following information:

"In accordance with the Law on the Fundamentals of Road Traffic Safety in BiH and Article 20, point 1 of the Rulebook on the conditions, method of training, organization and examination, and driver's license for tram drivers (Official Gazette of KS no. 43/18 and 1/26), it is defined: 'The extension of the driver's license for tram drivers is carried out at the request of the tram driver at the competent organizational unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of KS'.

Therefore, every GRAS driver is obliged to take care of the validity period of their driver's license and to extend its validity in a timely manner. In this specific case, the driver did not extend their driver's license in a timely manner.

- Regarding the medical examination of drivers, in accordance with the 'Traffic Safety Control' procedure, based on the referral from the head of the traffic sector, drivers are obliged to undergo regular, and if necessary, extraordinary medical examinations. After the medical examination, the competent health institution officially submits a medical certificate of fitness to perform driver duties. In this specific case, the driver underwent a regular medical examination on February 13, 2026, and the medical certificate established that they were fit to perform driver duties.

According to the decision of the company's Management, all heads of the traffic sector have been ordered to conduct extraordinary medical examinations for all GRAS drivers.

Immediately after the aforementioned event, in accordance with procedures, a statement was taken from the driver, and appropriate actions will be taken after obtaining the official record from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Furthermore, amendments and supplements to the rulebook and procedures will further improve the system of responsibility and control governing this area."
