After Zenica miners, another shift at RMU Kakanj enters work disobedience

(Patria) - The second shift of the subsidiary company Brown Coal Mines (RMU) Kakanj has entered work disobedience, confirmed to the media by the President of the RMU Kakanj Union, Abdel Fazlić.

He stated that they decided on this move due to the delay in the May salary, and claims they have excavated sufficient quantities of coal.

Salaries at this mine are usually paid around the 10th of the month.

"We have excavated sufficient quantities of coal, our invoice to the Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda Bosnia and Herzegovina (EPBiH) is around 6,200,000 KM, and about 2,900,000 KM needs to be secured for salaries. However, it's all in vain when EPBiH has not secured funds for salaries and hot meals," said Fazlić.

He notes that salary payments have been delayed for the fourth consecutive month.

"At this moment, we don't even have a date when our salary might be paid," says Fazlić.

He announces that, in addition to demands for payment of the May salary and hot meal, they might also present some other demands to the company's management and the parent company EPBiH.

He did not want to specify what those demands for ending the work disobedience and returning to work might be.

Today, workers of the subsidiary company RMU Zenica, who have not even received their April salary, and with June 25 being the deadline for the May salary payment, also began protests in front of the Administration building.

The Zenica miners, as they announced, will sleep in the Miners' Home building until this situation is resolved.

RMU Zenica has not produced coal for two years, but workers are engaged in inspection tasks and in extracting equipment that will be sold to some mines within the EPBiH Concern.
