After complaints about poor quarantine at Hotel Tuzla, Minister Rožnjaković announces review of decision

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Elvir Rožnjaković, Minister of Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection of Tuzla Canton, stated that the decision on accommodating BiH citizens from Germany and France, who are in quarantine on the top three floors of Hotel Tuzla, needs to be reviewed and changed.

Rožnjaković emphasized that citizens are continuously complaining about inhumane accommodation conditions at Hotel Tuzla, adding that persons with health problems and those using regular therapies are also in quarantine, the TK Government announced.

Given the information he received along with photos, he pointed out that it is necessary to find alternative accommodation in the coming days, where BiH citizens will stay without the risk of further endangering their health.

"At this moment, the health of our citizens is our number one priority. Therefore, the photos and information I have received in recent days, which clearly show that our citizens are staying in neglected, damp rooms with ceilings damaged by leaks, require our responsible and swift action. I believe it is necessary to accommodate citizens in a space that will provide minimum living conditions, which will not further endanger their health, especially because dampness negatively affects the respiratory system, increasing the risk of coronavirus. I emphasize that quarantine accommodation should be provided on renovated and refurbished floors, or alternative accommodation should be found in Tuzla. Also, I believe it is necessary to review who and why accommodated our citizens on the top three floors of this hotel, considering the conditions and the state of the rooms," said Minister Rožnjaković.

He added that we live in a time when everyone's health must be the top priority, and emphasized that he sincerely expects everyone to unanimously, without any calculations, find the best solution and provide our citizens with a dignified stay in quarantine in the coming days.

"I will raise this issue at tomorrow's Government session, and I am sure that the Government will show determination to protect the health of persons accommodated in quarantine," Minister Rožnjaković stated.
