The Football Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina has never been more uncertain, and four teams at the top of the table, with three rounds left in the league, have almost equal chances of winning the title, reports the BH News Agency Patria (NAP).
Decisive matches will likely be played at Otoka in Sarajevo, in Vrapčići in Mostar, and at Grbavica.
Olimpic and Velež will host two candidates for the title each, and the derby at Grbavica is a key match for Sarajevo and Željezničar. A potential draw would almost certainly eliminate both teams from the race. Sarajevo is in the toughest situation, trailing the leading Zrinjski and Željezničar by four points and one point behind Široki Brijeg.
However, the team from Košev is the only one of the leading four that still has two home games and one away. They will first host Vitez next round, then go to their city rivals at Grbavica, and in the last round, Radnik will visit them. The only realistic calculation for the maroon team is to win all matches.
The most important is the city derby, where they could eliminate Željezničar, a direct competitor, from the race.
And Hajrudin Dino Đurbuzović's team has the most points, but also the toughest schedule. They will visit a spirited Velež, which has four wins in five games, Sarajevo will visit them, and they will go to Rudar, who is fighting for survival. It is unlikely they will win all matches.
The leading Zrinjski has two difficult away games until the end, against Olimpic and Velež, and they play Mladost from Velika Obarska at home, where they are already counting on three points. Besides that, one more win might be enough for the title.
Široki is perhaps in the most favorable position, although they are two points behind the leader. The club from Pecara has an easy away game in Trebinje, Čelik visits them, and in the last round, they are at Otoka against Olimpic.
However, the points tally might not be decisive in the end. In case more teams, which is very likely, end up with the same number of points, the head-to-head record between the teams will decide. And Široki Brijeg is in the best position there.
They beat Sarajevo and Željezničar in both matches, but they have a poor record against Zrinjski, whom they lost to, and drew at home.
The leading Zrinjski has a worse record against Sarajevo, better against Široki Brijeg, but absolutely equal with Željezničar! Both matches ended 2:1 for the home team. In case they finish at the top with the same number of points, goal difference will decide, which gives Zrinjski an advantage.
Željezničar has a worse record against Široki Brijeg, equal with Zrinjski, and they have a match against Sarajevo pending, which is better in head-to-head matches than Zrinjski, worse than Široki, and has one draw with Željezničar, shows the analysis by the BH News Agency Patria.
