(Patria) - Bosnia's top skier Elvedina Muzaferija was in the US, and at Denver airport she experienced discomfort where all her equipment and bags were searched, and as she says in a post on social media, just because she has a passport of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Imagine, you travel with 10 bags because you are returning from training, there are skis, boots and all personal belongings, at check-in they single you out because you have a Bosnian passport. First you go for questioning, then all 10 bags are opened and every piece of clothing inside is taken out and inspected individually. So, we are talking about 10 bags, 20 minutes each, and then they leave you with all those things outside the bag to pack them yourself again and catch the plane. And all that just because you have a Bosnian passport, with no other reason,” Muzaferija wrote on the social network Instagram.
Bosnia's top skier tagged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, in her post.
“Will a solution be found for athletes so that we don't have to arrive at the airport 8 hours before the flight to be sure we will make the flight?”.
On the other hand, successful athletes are the best ambassadors of BiH, so travel should at least be made easier for them. If diplomatic passports can be issued to tourism enthusiasts, then they can also be issued to promising athletes, especially skiers, of whom we do not have enough for a country that hosted the 14th Winter Olympic Games.
