Zenica's athletes awarded: Tuka wants to bring an Olympic medal to his city and country

Zenica hosted a traditional sports event tonight where awards were presented to the city's most successful athletes, coaches, sports workers, and clubs.

All submitted applications were reviewed by an expert jury chaired by Ibrahim Muratović, and as they stated at tonight's event, the decisions were made unanimously, reports a reporter from the Patria News Agency.

- We had an extremely difficult and responsible task to select from the submitted applications those who showed the most during 2015 on sports fields in the country and abroad. I hope we have successfully completed the job entrusted to us by the Sports Association. It was a year in which our athletes truly delighted and impressed us on several occasions with their achievements - stated Muratović at the very beginning of the event, which, as has been the case for years, is organized by the Zenica Sports Association.

Thus, the award for promoting the city of Zenica outside the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina went to Ahmed Džananović, a member of the Čelik boxing club, and the Čelik Zenica handball club.

In the category for the city's sports hopes, awards went to 11 young athletes: Lejla Begić, member of the Internacional Karate Club, Ismar Pašabegović, member of the Zenica Athletics Club, Bakir Spahić, member of the Zenica Shooting Club, Ahmet Begić, member of the Čelik Basketball Club, Lara Ganić, member of the Čelik Women's Football Club, Hamza Hadžić, member of RK Čelik,
Elvedina Muzaferija, member of the ZE-2010 Ski Club, Muharem Keleštura, member of the Internacional Karate Club, Amar Borić, member of the Željezara Zenica Swimming Club, Vana Zeljko, member of the Čelik-Junior Handball School, and Adin Šećirović, member of the Mladost Table Tennis Club.

The most successful sports clubs chosen were the Zenica Athletics Club, KŽK Čelik, and Rugby Club Čelik.

The best coach in the past year was declared Slobodan Kecman, coach of the Zenica female basketball players, followed by Nedžad Marić, coach of the Čelik boxing club, and Mehmed Skender, coach of AK Zenica.

In the category for the best junior female athlete, basketball player Nedžla Kovačević was chosen, and for the best junior male athlete, Semir Avdić, a member of AK Zenica, was chosen.

According to the expert jury, the most successful senior female athlete in the past year was Aldijana Jurišić from KŽK Čelik, while Amel Tuka was declared the best senior male athlete.

- I must admit that it is an honor for me to be one of the award recipients tonight, and thanks to the support of all of you, I will give my best in the past period and will not stop at the results achieved so far. I believe that with God's help, I will bring the first Olympic medal to Zenica - stated Amel Tuka.
